Job Details:

• ABEM board certification required
• 
  
• Minimum 2 years of emergency department experience required to work in freestanding emergency departments, or family medicine with emergency medicine fellowship
• 
  
• All shifts are on-site coverage running 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM
• 
  
• Single physician coverage at each site with no call required
• 
  
• APP support available at all sites with varying hours of coverage per day
• 
  
• Required procedures include intubations, central line placement, ultrasound utilization, OB deliveries, dislocation reductions, chest tube placement, trauma management, and laceration repair
• 
  
• Two to three shadow shifts required along with a 2-hour onboarding process for EMR and local quality measures
• 
  
• Case logs will need to be provided
• 
  
• Patient population varies by site and includes elderly patients, winter Texans, nursing home patients, rural patients, and mixed demographics including younger patients
• 
  
• Average daily patient census ranges from 45 to 80 patients depending on site
• 
  
• Admission rates are approximately 10% at freestanding emergency departments and 20% at the main hospital site
• 
  
• Two sites are Level IV trauma centers and all sites see high acuity cases
• 
  
• Duration of need is approximately 1 year with 3 to 4 positions available

This healthcare system operates multiple emergency department locations throughout the region, including freestanding 24/7 emergency rooms and a full-service hospital emergency department. The facilities are equipped to handle a wide range of high-acuity emergency cases and include Level IV trauma centers. Each site is supported by advanced practice providers and utilizes Meditech as the electronic medical records system.
