Physician (Chief of Emergency Medicine)
Emergency Department Medical Officer of the Day (MOD) – Salisbury VA Medical Center

Join our dedicated 24/7 Emergency Department team! We are seeking a full-time board-certified physician to serve as Medical Officer of the Day, working flexible 8–12-hour shifts (approximately 80 hours per pay period) covering both clinical and administrative responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, stabilize, and manage emergency department patients
  • Respond to Code Blue, Code Red, and rapid response calls
  • Provide inpatient and emergency coverage including disaster response
  • Supervise medical students and residents as needed
  • Participate in performance improvement, peer review, and committee activities

Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may be considered if qualified citizens are unavailable, per VA policy
  • Education: MD or DO
  • Licensure: Full, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S. or its territories
  • Residency: Completion of an accredited residency in a core specialty
  • Board Certification: Emergency Medicine
  • Preferred Experience: Emergency Room experience, including leadership and supervision of ER personnel
