Beacon Breaks Ground on New Memorial Hospital Patient Tower
In October 2022, Beacon Health System leaders broke ground on the new 10-story patient care tower on the campus of Memorial Hospital of South Bend. This transformational, once-in-a-generation project is designed to enrich the patient, family and visitor experience while meeting the growing healthcare needs of residents in our area for decades to come.
The tower is expected to create an estimated 500 new jobs in the community upon anticipated completion in early 2026. Click here to learn more about the new patient tower.

Assists Surgeon(s) in OR with cardiac and thoracic surgeries (under the supervision of a physician).

Additional Information
Responsible for daily rounding on all in-house patients, as well as outpatient clinic coverage
Provides surgical first-assist support, including endoscopic vein and radial artery harvesting
Performs bedside procedures, including:
Chest tube placement
Thoracentesis
Radial arterial line placement
Central line placement
Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) removal
Call Schedule:
1:3 weekend rounding rotation
1:3 surgical call rotation (from home)
Location Requirement:
Must reside within 30 minutes of Beacon Kalamazoo Hospital
