This job is an integral part of the care delivery system, working together to provide a healing environment by placing our customers first. The incumbent provides specialty and critical care healthcare services primarily in an inpatient setting for acute or chronic health conditions in specific populations in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization within the Physician Assistants scope of practice.

Job Summary:

The Physician Assistant - Inpatient Domain A Critical Care role is utilized in areas that provide 24/7 coverage, shifts, specialty certification, advanced procedures, and appropriate privileging as required off hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive evidence-based patient care for acute patients within an inpatient setting, conduct thorough daily rounds, perform advanced medical history and physical assessments, formulate and implement patient-centered treatment plans, interpret diagnostic test results, and facilitate safe and effective discharge planning.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Provides comprehensive evidence-based patient care for acute patients within an inpatient setting. • Conducts thorough daily rounds, performs advanced medical history and physical assessments, formulates and implements patient-centered treatment plans, interprets diagnostic test results, and facilitates safe and effective discharge planning. • Orders, interprets, and evaluates laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic studies to determine patient treatment plans and establish medical diagnoses within the scope of practice. • Collaborates proactively with the attending physician and interdisciplinary team to develop and refine patient care plans. • Seeks physician consultation and guidance for clinical decisions that extend beyond the PA-C scope of practice or knowledge base, ensuring optimal patient safety and outcomes. • Institutes emergency measures, treatment, and appropriate stabilization for acute patient situations such as cardiac arrest, hemorrhage, or shock. • Ensures appropriate and timely documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to support accurate medical coding and billing and report pertinent information to the attending physician. • Facilitates seamless communication and coordination of patient care activities with patients, families, community health services, and the entire interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure continuity of care and optimal patient experience. • Assesses the specific learning needs of patients and their families, delivering culturally sensitive and age-appropriate education regarding their condition, treatment plan, and self-care strategies to promote understanding and active participation in their recovery. • Communicates effectively with the attending physician regarding the plan of care, involving them in clinical decision-making for issues outside the Physician Assistants knowledge or scope of practice. • Maintains mandatory professional continuing education and actively participates in patient safety, quality improvement processes, and patient engagement initiatives. • Performs hospital rounds accurately, executes physician orders, and maintains professional practice consistent with organizational mission statements and specialty-specific privileges.

Qualifications:

• Masters degree in Physician Assistant Studies • Current PA Physician Assistant License • PA-C or board-eligible • Ongoing successful recertification NCCPA as a PA-C within 90 days of hire • Drug Enforcement Agency Licensure within 60 days of hire • CPR - American Heart Association • ACLS Certification • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 year of experience in Physician Assistant
