JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB SUMMARY
The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner serves as a key clinical partner to the physician, supporting the growth, quality, and operational efficiency of the orthopedic practice. This role delivers high-quality, patient-centered care across ambulatory, inpatient, and perioperative settings while ensuring a timely, safe, and exceptional patient experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Care Delivery
Surgical & Procedural Support
Function as first assist in surgical procedures
Provide perioperative care including pre-operative evaluations and post-operative follow-up
Perform office-based orthopedic procedures, including:
Joint injections (e.g., corticosteroid injections)
Joint aspirations
Iovera and other approved procedures
Perform independent wound closure in accordance with clinical standards
Inpatient & Perioperative Care
Patient Communication & Experience
Documentation & Compliance
Care Coordination & Orders
Independently initiate and manage:
Outpatient orders (therapy, medications, diagnostics, referrals)
Inpatient orders
Coordinate care across providers and services
Fit and manage durable medical equipment (DME) as part of patient care
Team Collaboration & Leadership

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
2+ years experience Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner in a mixed setting of clinic and hospital based experience including OR first assist role.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
5+ years
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Continuously stand/walk or lift/handle/carry material or equipment of moderate weight. Continuously stand/walk or lift/handle/carry material or equipment of moderate weight (20 to 50 lbs).
ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Indoor area with frequent exposure. Located in an indoor area with frequent exposure to mild physical discomfort from dust, fumes, temperature, and noise. Examples: patient care providers and laboratory technicians.
HAZARDS OSHA
OSHA Category 1.Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, and other potentially infectious materials.
POSITION & UNIT ACCOUNTABILITIES
EDUCATION REQUIRED
Bachelor's. Graduate of CAAHEP accredited Physician Assistant Training Program.
EDUCATION PREFERRED
Master's, Physician Assistant.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE REQUIRED
Physician Assistant,Florida. BLS. Current Florida State registration. Infection Control Certificate must be current. Must have taken child abuse recognition course.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE PREFERRED
Current NCCPA Certificate - 100 hours of continuing medical education must be logged every 2 years. Recertification Examination must be taken every 6-10 years and passed successfully.
