Job Description and Duties:
Patton State Hospital, Human Resources is accepting applications for at least one (1) Permanent, Full-time, Physician and Surgeon (Safety) position. The position is assigned to the Medical Services Department. The position is under the direct supervision of the Chief Physician and Surgeon. As a Physician and Surgeon, the incumbent is responsible for planning, directing, and performing all phases of the medical services provided at DSH-Patton. The incumbent is responsible for making professional decisions regarding general medical work and minor surgery, as well as for appropriate referrals for services not performed at DSH-Patton.

• Incumbents must possess and maintain enough strength, agility, and endurance to perform during physically, mentally, and emotionally stressful, emergency situations encountered on the job without endangering their own health and well-being or that of their fellow employees, forensic patients, or the public.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance or the California Board of Osteopathic Examiners. • Completion of an internship in an approved hospital.
The Position(s) Require(s):
• A Drug Screening be passed prior to being hired. • A Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired. • Medical Clearance prior to being hired. • A California Board of Medical Quality Assurance License. • A California Board of Osteopathic Examiners License.
