Day (United States of America)Job Summary:
A Physical Therapy Resident (PTR) is a physical therapist participating in a postgraduate training program and is expected to complete the program within twelve months. Requirements include clinical hours treating patients, participating in mentoring sessions, didactic education, and other various educational opportunities. The PTR also has the same general duties and responsibilities as other physical therapists. Responsibilities include providing direct care to patients with varied diagnoses and supervising rehabilitation technicians, volunteers, and students. Caseloads may consist of patient care across the lifespan in varied practice settings.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Patient Treatment - Implements treatment plan utilizing current theory and practice; works towards established goals; modifies goals and treatment plan as necessary and indicated. Documents treatment plan according to department policy and bills for services. Coordinates appropriate follow up post-discharge from care.
Patient Assessment - Performs functions related to patient evaluation/re-evaluation, goal setting, and discharge planning according to department policy and procedures. Documents findings according to department policy and bills for services. Ensures findings are shared with appropriate individuals and provides necessary follow up.
Education - The incumbent will provide a positive learning environment for observers, volunteers, students, and co-workers. Willingly accepts learners and ensures learning objectives are achieved. Provides learning opportunities for department staff on topics related to clinical specialty.
Productivity - Meets departmental productivity standards. Takes initiative to ensure that established productivity standard is met on an ongoing and regular basis. Takes an active role in servicing patients with immediate needs. Documents productivity in a timely manner.
Required Minimum Education:
- Doctorate Physical Therapy
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
- BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor or BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support
Required Minimum Experience:
Must be enrolled in PT Doctorate program Required
