Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week | Monday - Friday | 8am - 4:30pm
Department:  PACE of Southwest Michigan | St. Joseph, MI

What You'll Do:
PACE of Southwest Michigan is looking for a compassionate, motivated Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to help bring movement, independence, and confidence back to the people we serve. In this role, you won’t just follow a routine—you’ll be part of a dynamic care team dedicated to helping participants live safely and comfortably in their homes and communities. 
Your day may take you beyond the clinic—into nursing homes and participants’ homes—where you’ll deliver hands-on care in the environments that matter most. 

Key Responsibilities


  • Assists in performing treatment as developed and directed by the Physical Therapist (PT).
  • Conducts nursing home and home site visits as needed/directed by the PT. 
  • Maintains and completes documentation, department records and reports.
  • Operates and maintains equipment in a safe and orderly manner.
  • Uses appropriate safety measures when providing care and perform other job duties. 
  • Delivers training to caregivers, family members and friends for the applicable area of treatment plan, under the direction of the PT. 
  • Assist the PT in reviewing restorative care plans.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise


  • Active and unencumbered Physical Therapy Assistant certification to practice in the state of Michigan.
  • One (1) year of experience in a clinical setting.
  • One (1) year of experience working with the elderly. 
  • CPR certification or willingness to obtain. 
  • Able to utilize computer skills in the workplace.
  • Knowledge of physical, mental and social needs of frail older adults.
  • Effective skills in physical assessment and chronic disease management for frail older adults.
