TX-STAR Speech Language Services partners with school districts throughout Texas to deliver specialized support for students with a variety of physical, developmental, and functional needs. We are currently seeking Physical Therapists for school-based opportunities in the San Antonio area.
These positions are ideal for clinicians who are committed to helping students improve mobility, increase independence, and participate more fully in their educational environments.
Your Role and Responsibilities
As a school-based Physical Therapist, you will evaluate students’ functional needs and provide individualized services that support physical development, safe mobility, and access to classroom activities.
In this role, you will:
Deliver physical therapy services that address students’ Individualized Education Program goals
Assess motor development, balance, coordination, mobility, positioning, and overall physical functioning
Create individualized treatment plans based on evaluation findings and educational needs
Provide therapy services in person or through teletherapy when appropriate for the assignment
Collaborate with teachers, special education personnel, families, and related-service professionals
Recommend equipment, positioning strategies, accommodations, and environmental modifications
Help students safely navigate classrooms, campuses, and other school-based settings
Track student performance and adjust therapy approaches based on progress and changing needs
Complete evaluations, service records, progress reports, and other required documentation accurately and on time
Participate in ARD and IEP meetings and share professional findings and recommendations
Qualifications for This Position
Current and active Texas Physical Therapy license
Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited educational program
Knowledge of IEP procedures, special education practices, and school-based service delivery
Ability to independently manage evaluations, therapy services, scheduling, and documentation
Strong collaboration skills and the ability to contribute effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, and time-management abilities
Previous experience working with pediatric or school-based populations is preferred
