Job Title: Physical Therapist – Outpatient

Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Physical Therapist (PT) to join a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team serving outpatient, acute care, and skilled nursing populations within a critical access healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will provide individualized therapy services to patients across all age groups and varying diagnoses while collaborating closely with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to improve patient mobility, function, and quality of life.

This position offers exposure to a wide range of therapy specialties including outpatient rehabilitation, acute care, skilled nursing care, wound care, lymphedema, pelvic floor therapy, and pediatric rehabilitation services.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, develop, and implement individualized physical therapy treatment plans
  • Provide therapy services for outpatient, acute care, and skilled nursing facility patients
  • Assess patient mobility, strength, balance, endurance, and functional limitations
  • Deliver therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, gait training, and functional mobility interventions
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams regarding patient care plans and discharge recommendations
  • Educate patients and families on therapy goals, home exercise programs, injury prevention, and mobility techniques
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the EPIC electronic medical record system
  • Float within therapy settings as needed to support operational and patient care needs
  • Participate in weekend coverage as required
  • Ensure compliance with patient safety, infection control, and facility policies and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of Physical Therapy experience required
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Ability to work with patients across outpatient, acute care, and SNF settings required
  • Strong communication, organizational, and patient care skills required
  • Ability to adapt to a rural healthcare environment and multidisciplinary patient population

Required Certifications & Licensure:

  • Current Alaska Physical Therapist license required
  • Current BLS Certification required

Facility Information:

  • Critical Access Hospital and Level IV Trauma Center
  • Acute Care Medical Center, Long-Term Care Facility, and Outpatient Rehabilitation Services
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Scrub Color: Any color or business casual attire permitted
  • Free parking available

Housing & Transportation Information:

  • Facility-provided housing available for travelers during assignment
  • Housing typically includes one-bedroom apartment accommodations
  • Facility-provided rental vehicle available for traveler use during assignment
  • Vehicle use limited to local travel within a 30-mile radius of the facility
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance required prior to vehicle use
  • Pets are not permitted in facility-provided housing
  • Housing and vehicle availability begin up to 72 hours before contract start and end within 24 hours after assignment completion

Additional Information:

  • Local candidates not accepted (must reside more than 50 miles from facility)
  • Pending Alaska licenses not accepted
  • Guaranteed Hours: 72 hours per 2 weeks
  • Facility may cancel up to one 8-hour shift per 2-week pay period
  • Influenza vaccine requirements may vary by facility policy
