Position Summary
The Data Center Security Lead serves as the primary onsite authority for day-to-day physical security operations within a mission-critical environment. This is a "player-coach" role that combines high-level technical oversight of security systems with the direct leadership of the security officer team. The Lead ensures that the site remains uncompromised by enforcing strict access protocols, managing real-time incident responses, and maintaining the operational readiness of all security infrastructure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Lead physical security operations protecting critical infrastructure, customer assets, and uptime, including access control, surveillance, and incident response.
- Develop and enforce security SOPs governing data hall access, clean‑room controls, badge validation, visitor management, and escort requirements.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for security events that could impact safety, operations, compliance, or customer trust.
- Supervise security staff and vendors to ensure post coverage, procedural compliance, and professionalism in a customer‑facing environment.
- Oversee and validate operation of access control systems, CCTV, alarms, SOC monitoring, and incident reporting tools supporting 24/7 operations.
- Partner with Safety, Facilities, IT, and Operations during maintenance windows, construction activity, and emergency response events.
- Conduct periodic security risk assessments and recommend controls aligned to critical infrastructure and data center best practices.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- 3-5 years in high-stakes physical security, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or "Lead" capacity (Data Center or Critical Infrastructure experience preferred).
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of security platforms such as Lenel, Genetec, or C-CURE, and experience with visitor management software.
- Certifications:
- PSP (Physical Security Professional) is highly preferred.
OSHA 10 or basic safety certifications.
- Soft Skills: Calm under pressure, exceptional report-writing skills, and the ability to communicate security requirements firmly but professionally to clients and vendors.
- High school diploma or GED.
