Job Summary: The Physical Education teacher implements the mission statement, philosophy and objectives of St. Gregory the Great Parish School: the policies of the Archdiocesan Office for Schools; and follows the directives of the Faculty Handbook, the Parent/Student Handbook, and the School Principal. Provide physical education instruction to grades K3-8th grade students as required by archdiocesan/state curriculum standards.

Instruction and Curriculum
Respect and encourage the uniqueness and individual differences of each student.
Teach Christian values by word and by example. Treat all members of the community with respect and dignity.
Plan and organize physical activities which provide a positive learning experience for all students to develop a high level of physical fitness, a variety of psychomotor skills and a knowledge and understanding of physical and health wellness education.
Implement a standard based curriculum as required by the Archdiocese and the state.
Provide assistance to and/or refer students who have a learning difference.
Work with the school principal, parents and outside agencies when there is a specific student need
Prepare the necessary plans and materials to meet these objectives and provide meaningful learning experiences.
Assess students' performance formally and informally using appropriate Physical Education measures.
Cooperate in curriculum development to meet the needs of the students.
Prepare, organize and coordinate lesson activities that follow the curriculum.
Prepare order for needed materials and provide the administrative assistant with the information in a timely fashion.
Supervise students as described in the faculty handbook and as required by the school principal.
Teachers must take the on-line course of the DPI Wisconsin Medication Training program. Teachers are required to take the training/verification on health concerns related to the students they instruct.
Communication
Help create a professional working atmosphere.
Communicate with teachers to provide for curriculum connections as well as information concerning student needs and concerns.
Communicate with parents as needed and report to school principal as appropriate.
Attend the scheduled Home and School meetings, Parent Information Night and other required events.
Practice punctuality in completing school duties, administrative requests and observing times for school arrival/end of day (7:30am - 3:30pm)
Record Keeping
Record daily attendance.
Maintain grading system and update PowerSchool information at least every two weeks.
Prepare student report cards.
Complete curriculum development work.
Complete other record keeping as requested by the school principal.
Professional Growth
Attend and be actively involved in all faculty meetings, level meetings and in-service experiences.
Continue to work toward religion certification as outlined by Office for Schools standards.
Maintain Wisconsin state Teaching certification or follow an appropriate study plan leading to certification within a specified time frame.
Design and actively pursue a professional development plan.
Practice reflective thinking in order to promote personal and student academic growth.
