DESCRIPTION:

Nassau BOCES is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Physical Education Teacher to join our Special Education Department. The successful candidate will design and implement physical education programs that support the diverse physical, social, and emotional needs of students with disabilities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Developing and delivering individualized and group physical education instruction aligned with Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals

  • Adapting curriculum, equipment, and activities to meet a wide range of abilities and needs

  • Promoting physical fitness, motor development, teamwork, and social skills

  • Collaborating with special education teachers, therapists, and support staff

  • Monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate documentation

  • Ensuring a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment

REQUIREMENTS:

  • New York State Education Department Certification (NYSED): Physical Education

  • Background in Adapted Physical Education is preferred

  • Experience working with students with special needs, including developmental, emotional, and physical disabilities

  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills

  • Ability to modify instruction to accommodate diverse learners

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

SALARY: As per contract
