Job Summary:
Climax-Scotts Community Schools is seeking a passionate, student-centered Physical Education Teacher to teach advanced physical education courses at the Jr./Sr. High School level. The ideal candidate will create a positive, engaging, and challenging learning environment that promotes lifelong fitness, teamwork, leadership, sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyles. This position is responsible for planning and delivering instruction aligned with Michigan Physical Education standards while fostering strong relationships with students, families, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging instruction for advanced physical education courses.
- Develop lessons and activities that promote physical fitness, teamwork, leadership, and personal growth.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and positive learning environment.
- Assess and monitor student progress and communicate effectively with students and families.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technology, and assessment tools.
- Encourage sportsmanship, responsibility, and healthy habits.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administration, and support staff to support student success.
- Maintain accurate records and complete required reports in a timely manner.
- Support school initiatives and participate in professional development opportunities.
- Uphold district policies, procedures, and expectations.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate Physical Education endorsement
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
- Ability to create engaging and developmentally appropriate instructional activities
- Ability to motivate and encourage students in physical fitness and wellness
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, administration, and families
- Commitment to student growth and success
- Experience teaching secondary physical education.
- Experience developing advanced or strength/conditioning-based PE programming.
- Knowledge of fitness, wellness, and student-athlete development.
