Job Description / Essential Elements: Print

Elementary Physical Education Teacher EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: Provide pull out PE instruction to students (up to 45 at a time) in grades 1-5 on a rotational basis. Staff member will need to create a schedule and scope of sequence to provide activities that improve aerobic activity, coordination and skill development. Additionally, provide supervision and school wide activities during the morning recess. Provide suggestions for school wide programs to implement Peaceful Playground curriculum in order to improve student engagement at recess and promote overall health. SELECTION PROCESS: A screening committee will review applications for satisfaction of minimum qualification standards. Those applicants evidencing the best qualifications, six maximum, will be invited for a panel interview evaluation. The interview panel will provide the superintendent with the top candidates for final selection. Candidates will be notified in writing following final selection. POSITION DEFINITION: The teacher, under the supervision of the principal, will perform a variety of instructional and curriculum tasks related to the education of (K-5) elementary school students and assist in other school programs as assigned. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the instruction of multicultural students as it relates to the Nuview course of study with strengths in language arts, social studies, reading, mathematics, art, science, physical education and music. SKILLS/ABILITIES: The applicant must have a desire to create an environment conducive to academic and personal growth; to develop the core curriculum to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate linguistic, mathematical, technological and cultural literacy. QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: ? Valid CA Teaching credential with an authorization to teach Physical Education; ? Must hold a valid English Learner authorization (CLAD, BCLAD, SB1969 or other appropriate authorization).
