What We Offer:

Join the Novant Health Team as a Phlebotomy Tech I! 

 

Positions available at: Wilmington/Leland clinics-  Ogden, Scott’s Hill, Myrtle Grove, Brunswick Forest, 16th St., and Autumn Hall Clinics. 

Available shifts: Days- Hours can vary between 7:30am-5pm

Available status: Full time, Part Time, and PRN - Also some roles will float between the clinics

As a Phlebotomy Tech I, you'll safely collect and prepare blood samples from patients for testing, donation, or transfusion while following proper procedures and maintaining patient comfort. We offer a collaborative and supportive work environment.

What We're Looking For:
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • Experience: 
    • One year of relevant phlebotomy or venous access experience, preferred.
    • Completion of an accredited phlebotomy program, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Phlebotomy (certification eligible) - ASCP, ASPT, AMT, NHA or other national accrediting agency approved by Laboratory Senior Leadership preferred.
  • Additional Skills Required: In NHMG setting, performs waived and moderate testing that meets TJC, CLIA and COLA regulations. Knowledge of current medical terminology to perform full range of laboratory tasks. Knowledge of medical terminology to communicate with medical staff regarding laboratory procedures. Skill in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, hospital staff and the public. Ability to follow written protocols. Ability to work independently. Ability to communicate clearly.

What You'll Do:
  • Collects blood samples from patients using proper techniques and safety protocols

  • Prepares and labels specimens accurately for laboratory testing or transfusions

  • Ensures proper handling, storage, and transportation of blood samples

  • Verifies patient identity and records relevant information

  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment, following infection control guidelines

  • Assists patients by explaining procedures and ensuring their comfort

  • Operates and maintains phlebotomy equipment and supplies
