We are hiring immediately for a Phlebotomist to join the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health in San Antonio, Tx. In this position, you work on a project providing viral hepatitis B and C education, screening, vaccination and treatment to individuals with experiences of or at risk for homelessness. The work will be conducted off-campus at housing sites in the San Antonio area. The hire may be asked to work an average of 2-8 hours/week.What we do here changes the world. Position Summary: Phlebotomist will work on project providing viral hepatitis B and C education, screening, vaccination and treatment to individuals with experiences of or at risk for homelessness. Position Key Accountabilities:Attendance viral hepatitis screening eventsRecord all job activities in a data management systemProvide venipuncture to individuals interested in hepatitis B and C testingSupport phlebotomy team in paperwork, laboratory tests ordering and blood samples drop offPick-up and drop-off supplies or samples, as neededAttend team meetingsOther related duties as assigned.Certification/Skills:Knowledge of MS Office applications.Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) by National Health career Association (NHA) preferredExperience conducting venipuncture on difficult-to-draw individuals (e.g., those with a history of injection drug use)Bilingual in Spanish, preferredAvailability on some nights and weekendsMinimum Education:High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a specialized phlebotomy training program is preferred.Minimum Experience:None.Physical Requirements:Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.Security Sensitive:This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094. To the extent that a position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Texas Business and Commerce Code §117.001(2), the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired for and to continue to be employed in that position.
