Pharmacy Technician - Patient Access Specialist (Hybrid)

Responsibilities

• Verify prescription insurance coverage and perform benefits investigations
• Process insurance eligibility checks and pharmacy claims
• Adjudicate pharmacy claims and resolve claim rejections
• Communicate prior authorization requirements to provider offices and assist throughout the authorization process
• Handle inbound calls from patients, providers, clinics, and healthcare partners regarding order status, medication access, and financial assistance options
• Serve as a resource for pharmacy claims adjudication and insurance-related inquiries
• Accurately document patient interactions and account activity
• Coordinate medication deliveries and collect payment information when applicable
• Manage refill scheduling and patient follow-up activities
• Monitor patient compliance with therapy plans through refill outreach
• Identify and report adverse events and product complaints according to established procedures
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely patient access to medications

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a pharmacy, healthcare, medical office, patient access, or related setting
• Experience with insurance verification, benefits investigation, and/or prior authorization processes
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving abilities
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Preferred

• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification in good standing
• Specialty pharmacy experience
• Experience with pharmacy claims adjudication and insurance reimbursement processes
