    Overview:

    Department: Retail Hospital Pharmacy 

    Employment Type: Part-Time 

    Shifts Available:  Days 

    Hours: 7-hour shifts - 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

    Location: St. Joseph Medical Center – Kansas City, MO 

     

    The Certified Pharmacy Technician supports daily operations in a hospital-based retail pharmacy by assisting with prescription processing, medication dispensing, insurance billing, inventory management, customer service, and regulatory compliance. This role works closely with pharmacists, patients, and healthcare teams to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient pharmacy services.

    Responsibilities:

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

    • Process prescriptions, enter orders, prepare medications, and label prescriptions accurately.
    • Provide customer service, assist patients, and complete pharmacy transactions.
    • Manage insurance claims, prior authorizations, and billing issues.
    • Maintain medication inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and monitoring supplies.
    • Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations, HIPAA requirements, and medication safety standards.
    • Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare teams to support patient care and prescription fulfillment.
    Qualifications:

    Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have: 

    • Previous pharmacy technician experience preferred
    • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required or obtained within 6 months of hire date
    • State Pharmacy Technician License/Registration required (if required by state regulations)
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Graduate of ASHP-accredited or equivalent pharmacy technician training program preferred
    • 340B program experience preferred (if at a 340B facility)
