Job Title: Pharmacy Technician Externship Coordinator
Location: The College of Health Care Professions South West
Hours: 8 AM - 4PM, And 6 PM - 10 PM Swing
Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician Externship Coordinator at The College of Health Care Professions plays a crucial role in securing and managing externship sites for our pharmacy technician students. This position works closely with the Program Director and campus leadership to ensure students gain real-world experience in quality pharmacy settings, with the key goal of achieving a 40% site-to-hire conversion rate upon externship completion. The coordinator maintains compliance with regulatory standards while fostering strong relationships with externship partners and students.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruit and Develop Externship Sites: Identify, establish, and maintain a diverse network of quality externship sites for pharmacy technician students.
Ensure Site-to-Hire Conversion: Strive to achieve a 40% hire rate for students at externship sites after completion.
Monitor Student Progress: Track student performance, attendance, and documentation throughout the externship process.
Maintain Compliance: Ensure all externship sites meet regulatory and accreditation standards.
Conduct Site Visits: Regularly visit externship sites to ensure quality standards are upheld and to serve as a liaison between students, faculty, and externship partners.
Support Career Readiness: Assist students with professionalism, career development, and post-externship job placement.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student externship assignments, performance, and feedback.
Orientation & Campus Events: Lead externship orientations and participate in campus events to promote the externship program.
Qualifications:
Required:
3+ years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
Current/Active State Board License & NHA/PTCB Certification.
3+ years of prior teaching or training experience.
ACPE IV/Sterile Compounding Certification (Preferred).
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry systems.
Ability to travel 20–50% of the time for site visits and externship-related activities.
