Pharmacy Technician
Location: Las Vegas, NM | Department: Pharmacy Services | Employment Type: PRN



Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our hospital team in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician supports medication preparation, distribution, and inventory management to ensure safe and efficient patient care.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist pharmacists in preparing, packaging, and dispensing medications

  • Deliver medications to nursing units and other departments as needed

  • Maintain accurate medication records and ensure proper labeling and storage

  • Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, and restocking medications and supplies

  • Compound sterile and non-sterile preparations following safety and compliance guidelines

  • Handle insurance claims and prior authorizations under pharmacist direction

  • Operate and maintain pharmacy automation systems and equipment

  • Ensure compliance with all hospital, state, and federal regulations

  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, nurses, and physicians

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Completion of a Pharmacy Technician training program preferred

  • Current Pharmacy Technician license in the state of New Mexico (or eligibility to obtain)

  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital or clinical pharmacy setting preferred

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, and drug names

Work Environment:

  • Hospital-based setting with rotating shifts, weekends, and holiday coverage as needed

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
