This role combines instruction and externship coordination. Instructors provide engaging learning experiences across various settings and serve as academic role models committed to student success. The Externship Coordinator oversees all aspects of the externship program, ensuring a smooth transition from classroom to clinical practice. As part of Academic Affairs, the role ensures compliance with institutional and regulatory standards to support student achievement and licensure.
Responsibilities:- Deliver engaging lectures and lab sessions on assigned topics, diagnostic procedures, equipment operation, and troubleshooting
- Organize and present class objectives in a clear and concise manner
- Foster and maintain a safe, orderly, and controlled environment in classrooms and labs
- Maintain and prepare training aids, tools, and equipment for instructional use
- Ensure curriculum accuracy by staying current with industry standards and practices
- Provide regular and substantive interaction with students in online course components
- Evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and practical assessments
- Offer constructive feedback and academic support to promote student success
- Identify at-risk students and develop individualized success plans to improve retention
- Coordinate and supervise student externship placements in collaboration with internal and external partners
- Develop new externship sites and maintain relationships with existing partners
- Oversee compliance with school policies and timely completion of required documentation
- Other duties as assigned
- Must have completed postsecondary training (degree or certificate) in either a state licensed school or college accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education.
- Three years as Pharmacy Technician
- Must have at least a high school diploma (or its equivalent).
- 3 years clinical experience.
- Must have CPhT certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) for California and Texas Associates. This credential is preferred in Florida.
- Expertise in the area of assignment that demonstrates the skills needed to provide instruction
- Design and deliver engaging educational content, adapting teaching methods to diverse learning styles
- Build rapport with students, clinical partners, and colleagues, fostering a positive learning environment
- Flexibility to stay current with industry advancements and incorporate new knowledge into teaching practices
- Competence in evaluating student performance and providing constructive feedback
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective instruction and interaction with students and colleagues

- Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds with the assistance of mechanical interventions, students, or other employees
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to provide instruction in labs and demonstrate procedures
- Use fine and large motor skills to operate a motor vehicle
- Use hearing and sight (both near and far vision) to operate a motor vehicle
- Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment when on site at assigned company location. Employees must be able to safely ambulate when on company premises.
- This position is designated as On Campus or On site; Work environments may include exposure to student learning environments with a variety of conditions. Employees must be able to follow all safety precautions including the use of personal-protective equipment. Employees must also be able to adhere to site-specific safety procedures.
