Job Title: Pharmacy Technician

Job Description

The Pharmacy Technician supports daily pharmacy operations in a small outpatient clinic by accurately processing prescription orders, maintaining medication inventory, and assisting the pharmacist in delivering safe, compliant, and efficient pharmacy services. Working under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, this role helps ensure medications are prepared, packaged, and made available for verification in accordance with all applicable federal and state regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Process prescription orders under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist and prepare them for pharmacist verification.
  • Assist in filling prescriptions accurately and efficiently, including bubble packing and compliance packaging as needed.
  • Order, receive, and store incoming pharmacy supplies and medications according to established procedures.
  • Receive and process wholesaler medication orders in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Verify medication stock levels regularly and enter data into the computer system to maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Help maintain an organized and compliant pharmacy environment that meets all federal and state regulatory requirements.
  • Support the pharmacist with day-to-day pharmacy functions and workflow to ensure safe and effective patient care.
  • Collaborate with other pharmacy technicians and clinic staff to support smooth operations in the outpatient setting.
  • Assist with medication administration record (MAR) processes as needed, ensuring accurate documentation and communication.

Essential Skills

  • Active Pharmacy Technician license in Idaho.
  • At least 1 year of experience as a pharmacy technician.
  • Experience with bubble pack and compliance packaging.
  • Ability to accurately fill and process prescriptions under pharmacist supervision.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems to enter and maintain medication inventory records.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy operations and support functions in an outpatient or similar setting.
  • Understanding of and adherence to federal and state pharmacy regulations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred.
  • Medication Administration Record (MAR) experience preferred.
  • Experience in a pharmacy setting within long-term care, behavioral health, or similar environments is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling medications and documentation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a small pharmacy team.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with pharmacists, clinic staff, and other team members.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and maintain orderly inventory and workspaces.

Work Environment

This role is based in a small outpatient clinic environment, working as part of a close-knit team of three pharmacy technicians under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist. The work involves frequent use of computer systems for inventory and prescription processing, as well as handling and organizing medication stock and pharmacy supplies. The setting emphasizes accuracy, regulatory compliance, and teamwork, with a steady workflow that supports patient care in an outpatient clinical context.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.80/hr.
