Job Title: Pharmacy Technician – Acute Care Pharmacy Tech II

Schedule: Full-Time – Day Shift
The
Acute Care Pharmacy Technician II supports hospital pharmacy operations by assisting pharmacists with the
preparation, dispensing, and distribution of medications to nursing units and ancillary departments.
This role is responsible for
accurate medication dispensing, triaging patient medication orders, maintaining automated dispensing systems (ADS), and supporting safe medication administration processes within the hospital.
The technician plays a vital role in ensuring
efficient pharmacy workflow, medication safety, and timely patient care delivery.
Key ResponsibilitiesMedication Preparation & Dispensing- Fill and dispense unit-dose medications and stock medications to nursing units and clinical departments.
- Prepare and dispense oral and IV medications under pharmacist supervision.
- Ensure medications are dispensed accurately and promptly.
Order Processing- Review and triage patient medication orders for pharmacy processing.
- Assist pharmacists with order entry verification and medication preparation workflows.
Automated Dispensing Systems- Maintain and restock Automated Dispensing Systems (ADS).
- Monitor medication inventory levels in automated dispensing cabinets.
- Ensure medication security and accuracy within automated systems.
Inventory & Medication Management- Assist in inventory management and medication stock control.
- Maintain proper storage and labeling of medications.
- Monitor expiration dates and assist with medication rotation.
Patient Safety & Compliance- Follow hospital medication safety protocols and pharmacy procedures.
- Maintain compliance with state pharmacy regulations and hospital policies.
- Support pharmacy quality improvement initiatives.
Education: High School Diploma or GEDLicensure & CertificationMust meet
one of the following:
- Oregon Certified Pharmacy Technician upon hire, OR
- Oregon Pharmacy Technician License upon hire
AND
- PTCB Certification with at least one year (2,080 hours) of pharmacy practice in an integrated health system
OR
- Minimum 2 years (4,160 hours) hospital pharmacy experience if not PTCB certified
Preferred Qualifications- Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program
- ACPE-approved sterile compounding certification (if applicable)
- Experience working with:
- Automated Dispensing Machines (ADMs)
- Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems
- Prior experience in hospital or acute care pharmacy settings
