Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for providing pharmacy services, including, but not limited to dispensing and preparing pharmaceuticals, performing inventory control, compliance audits, and financial transactions, providing customer service, and maintaining pharmacy records.

The Pharmacy Technician works as part of an interdisciplinary patient care team, and under direction of the Pharmacist Supervisor. The Pharmacy Technician may assist in the on-line training of staff under the direction and guidance of a Pharmacy Technical Supervisor and/or Pharmacy Technician Trainer.

The Pharmacy Technician is designed to utilize and extend knowledge and competency while performing technical pharmacy functions of the Ambulatory Pharmacy.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position.

• California Licensed Pharmacy Technician
• At least 2 years of recent Outpatient Pharmacy Technician experience.
• Knowledge of third- party insurances, Medicare Plan-B, and/or manual claims.
• Knowledge of current Medi-Cal Formulary and other third- party billing systems.
• Knowledge of current California Pharmacy Law.
• Working knowledge of pharmacy terminology, generic/brand name drugs and abbreviations

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience and working knowledge within a UCDMC Outpatient Pharmacy
• Experience and working knowledge of Sterile and Non-Sterile Compounding
• Ability to operate Pharmacy Information System and other computer programs.

The Department is a dynamic, integral, and critical part of patient care provided by UC Davis Health. As a department of greater than 600 professional, technical, and administrative support personnel, we focus on providing patient-centered medication management that optimizes outcomes through practice, education, research and leadership through the continuum of care. We also have the largest pharmacy residency program in the country with 46 total residents in 13 different programs.

The Department of Pharmacy offers comprehensive pharmaceutical services (unit dose, IV admixtures, clinical services, infusion pumps and teaching) throughout the health system complex 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The pharmacy services encompass inpatient pharmacy services as well as an expansive footprint in the ambulatory care space where we have clinical pharmacists embedded with our clinics and specialty care locations. Our operational teams support the health system enterprise with three inpatient pharmacies, five outpatient pharmacies, two infusion pharmacies, a home infusion service line, and the full complement of pharmacy purchasing, stores and distribution.
