ASPIRUS ST. LUKE''S HOSPITAL in Duluth, MN is seeking a PHARMACY TECH-AUTOMATION to join our PHARMACY team!

Salary Range: $21.42 - $31.06 Hourly

Schedule/Hours: DAY ONLY, 8 hours

Weekend Requirement: Occasional Weekend

FTE: FULL TIME, 1.0 FTE or 80 Hours Biweekly

The Pharmacy Technician-Automation plays a key role in supporting the interoperability of all automated technology related to medication distribution for St. Luke''s Hospital and ancillary outpatient areas. The Automation Pharmacy Technician optimizes and maintains inventory for automated pharmacy technology such as the centralized pharmacy robot and the automated distribution cabinets as well as assists the vendors and relevant St. Luke''s departments such as the IT Department with their overall maintenance. The Automation Pharmacy Technician proactively monitors controlled substance utilization, bringing concerns to Pharmacy Management, and serves as a resource, training and mentoring pharmacy staff regarding policies and procedures related to automation. The Automation Pharmacy Technician also performs inspections of medication storage areas to assist in compliance with state and federal regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience: 4160 hours of pharmacy technician experience.
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration: Minnesota Technician registration prior to start date. Must be nationally certified as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcare Association (NHA) upon hire into position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Familiarity with drug names, both brand and generic; understanding and ability to utilize the Pharmacy Information System as well as PCs in the pharmacy; operational knowledge of equipment used in the pharmacy; operational knowledge of all equipment used in the IV room; knowledge of aseptic technique for preparing parenteral products; knowledge to estimate, calculate and accurately check all procedures for solving calculation problems; ability to follow written and oral instructions with accuracy and dependability; ability to communicate verbal and written instructions; ability to work with sustained attention on repetitive tasks. Ability to distinguish routine functions from those that require professional judgment; good finger dexterity; ability to do light typing; ability to learn and participate in all areas assigned; ability to adapt to the changing role of Hospital pharmacy and develop new technician roles; ability to give consistent attention to details. No history of drug addiction or misuses; good physical and emotional health patterns; attends lectures and classes for self-improvement; pleasant personality and cooperative attitude in adjusting to a variety of pharmacy situations; work experience that indicates responsibility, maturity and accountability. In addition, knowledge of organizing work responsibilities efficiently; demonstrates care, alertness and exactness. Able to work varying shifts as needed.

  • WRITING - Intermediate: Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, or procedures.
  • SPEAKING - Intermediate: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Intermediate Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw or interpret bar graphs to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • REASONING ABILITY - Intermediate Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
