About the Role

As an Ambulatory Retail Pharmacy Technician – Specialty, you will support both patient-facing and operational functions within the Central Fill Specialty Pharmacy. This role is ideal for someone who values teamwork, precision, and helping patients access essential medications.

Key Responsibilities

Operational & Medication Preparation

  • Work closely with the Operations team to prepare and dispense medications, including:
    • Counting
    • Labeling
    • Packing medications
  • Assist with daily maintenance and inventory tasks such as:
    • Unpacking medication deliveries
    • Receiving and organizing supply orders

Prescription Processing & Clinical Support

  • Process prescriptions for patients in the ambulatory/specialty setting.
  • Collect complete and accurate medication histories.
  • Ensure prescriptions are ready for pharmacist review and verification.

Patient & Care Team Coordination

  • Communicate coverage details, payment responsibilities, and prescription status to patients and clinical staff.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, social workers, and specialty pharmacy teams to ensure medication access.
  • Provide timely follow‑up to resolve outstanding documentation or coverage needs.

Insurance & Financial Verification

  • Determine insurance requirements for pre‑certification, coverage limitations, and patient responsibility.
  • Gather financial and clinical information needed for claim adjudication.
  • Escalate coverage issues promptly to clinical teams.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED— (Required)
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)— (Required)
    • Please upload your current certification when applying.
  • 1 year of retail pharmacy technician experience— (Preferred)
