**Description** PeaceHealth is seeking a **Pharmacy Medication Access Specialist** for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $28.73 - $43.09. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc. **Job Summary** Responsible for assisting with all aspects of medication access, including but not limited to collaboration with healthcare providers, clinicians and caregivers, communication with patients, addressing and resolving medication-related needs, completes necessary reporting and/or auditing, and conducting and completing necessary third party (insurance) requests, as applicable. **Essential Functions** + Navigates various options for receiving prior authorization requests and further utilizing systems to find resources that best fit the patient's needs, as applicable. + Assesses patient's financial status for assistance including but not limited to, disease specific assistance programs, patient assistance programs and local community resources. + Identifies and coordinates the completion of all materials related to patient application for programs determined to offer patient assistance in individual patient cases. Serves as a liaison between the patient, the patient care team and patient assistance(s) programs. + Assists patients by explaining the medication access process, which may include navigating insurance processes, understanding billing procedures, completing applications and reviewing documents required to complete the application. + Assists patients to complete, or completes PAP and copay assistance applications, records qualitative feedback, refill reminders and medication shipment scheduling, and patient re-enrollment in appropriate assistance programs, as appropriate. + Verifies patient insurance benefits to minimize patient cost. + Apply co-pay assistance payments to the appropriate patient account, as applicable. + Works closely with infusion clinic staff including Infusion nurses, to coordinate applications for copay assistance and free drug programs as required. Tracks and reports on drug replacement volumes and revenues to allow for review of success of counseling programs. + Garners and maintains knowledge of Health Plan compliance requirements, medical operations, and medical terminology. + Efficiently determines a patient's ability to utilize enterprise pharmacy services. Routes prescriptions to appropriate pharmacy, as necessary. + Supports the development of methods of communication and coordination with patient care team to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of orders for patient requests and clients. + Performs other duties as assigned. **Qualifications** + **Associate Degree Required** : in a healthcare related field or comparable experience and expertise which provides the incumbent the requisite skills, knowledge and ability to successfully perform the responsibilities of this job may be considered + **Minimum of 3 years Required:** pharmacy services experience **or** hospital, healthcare, medical group experience + Preferred: Medication terminology education and practical experience **Credentials** + **Required:** within 1 Year Certified Pharmacy Technician - National **Working Conditions** + Ability to move around area with occasional sitting. + Occasional squatting/ kneeling/ bending. + Fine motor skills to be able to grasp to perform precise procedures frequently. + Frequent reaching. + Lift/Carry: Occasionally up to 30 lbs. + Push/Pull: Occasionally up to 14 lbs. force. + Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals. + Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted). + Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
