Responsible for the coordination, and implementation of Retail Pharmacy Services at assigned locations. Ensure that all local, state and federal rules and regulations are followed in Mercy Pharmacy Services (MPS) Company 80 locations. Responsible for identifying potential and existing drug-related problems and taking appropriate actions to prevent or resolve them. Work closely with the medical staff to design and implement pharmaceutical protocols. Facilitates the development and ongoing management of systems that promote desirable patient outcomes using safe, cost-effective medication therapy. Ensures the efficient utilization of resources to meet productivity and financial goals. Supports a compliant and effective 340B drug program. Coordinates specialty pharmacy services in collaboration with other pharmacy managers. Designs, implement and coordinates appropriate marketing programs to attract and maintain customer business. Inspires a shared vision, demonstrating the value of change and presenting it to co-workers with enthusiasm. Model’s professional standards, having a positive attitude, and engaging co-workers to become leaders of change. The Manager-Retail Pharmacy encourages the heart of co-workers by providing both public and private recognition and connecting on a personal level with those that they serve. Position Details:

Pharmacy Manager – Home Delivery

Location: Temporarily based at Mercy Old Tesson (relocating before year-end)
Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours/week

About the Role

Mercy Pharmacy Direct is an innovative, centralized pharmacy designed to streamline prescription fulfillment with a focus on home delivery. This operation leverages advanced technology, direct EHR integration, and automated dispensing workflows to improve accuracy, efficiency, and patient experience.

As the Pharmacy Manager, you will lead the coordination, implementation, and ongoing success of retail pharmacy services within this cutting-edge environment. You will play a key role in building systems that enhance patient outcomes, ensure regulatory compliance, and support operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations

  • Lead day-to-day pharmacy operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, staffing models, and workflow efficiencies
  • Monitor financial performance, productivity, and resource utilization
  • Participate in budgeting, hiring, performance management, and team development
  • Foster a positive work culture, mentor staff, and lead change initiatives

Clinical & Patient Care

  • Identify and resolve drug-related issues, ensuring safe and effective medication therapy
  • Collaborate with physicians and care teams to optimize pharmaceutical care and protocols
  • Provide clinical guidance, including dosing, interactions, contraindications, and therapy recommendations
  • Support Medication Therapy Services (MTS) and patient-centered care delivery

Program Management

  • Oversee and maintain compliant 340B drug program operations
  • Coordinate specialty pharmacy services across programs and locations
  • Partner with leadership to design and implement pharmacy initiatives that improve patient outcomes and reduce costs
  • Support development of digital patient tools (refills, communication, delivery tracking)

Quality, Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations
  • Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA, OSHA, and safety standards
  • Lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
  • Monitor and audit pharmacy processes to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance

Training & Development

  • Support onboarding and ongoing education for pharmacists, technicians, residents, and students
  • Develop training materials and provide guidance on pharmacy operations
  • Encourage professional development and continuous learning among team members

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)

Licensure

  • Current (or eligible) Pharmacist license in the applicable state

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an ambulatory or retail pharmacy setting
  • Minimum 3 years of management or leadership experience

Certifications

  • Medication Therapy Services Certification (as required by state)
  • Missouri pharmacists must obtain MTS certification within 90 days of hire

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 185 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who wanted to help the poor women and children of Dublin. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill her dreams.
