We're hiring a licensed Pharmacist for a contract position in Lander, WY. You will use clinical expertise to ensure safe and accurate medication distribution and provide pharmacy support across adult and geriatric patient populations. Minimum Requirements:

  • Wyoming Board of Pharmacy (BOP) license required. License must be attached to submission.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Certification must be through the American Heart Association and attached to submission.
  • Minimum 1 year recent hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Experience interpreting medication orders, compounding and dispensing sterile and non-sterile preparations, and supervising pharmacy support staff.
  • Demonstrated competence with medication safety processes including review of patient profiles for interactions, allergy checks, and appropriate dosing (height, weight, renal function, age).
  • Experience with aseptic technique, IV product verification, and controlled substance security and documentation.
  • Ability to manage workflow to prioritize STAT, Now, and waiting orders and to enter medication orders at the required volume (capable of entering a minimum of 40 orders per four-hour shift).
  • Must follow facility submission template exactly for consideration. Submittals missing required documentation or template will be rejected.
  • Preferred: experience with pharmacokinetics dosing services and dose modification based on levels and clinical parameters.

Standard Job Description

The Pharmacist works in collaboration with the Director of Pharmacy and according to standard procedures compounds and dispenses medications and pharmaceutical supplies upon receiving written prescriptions from physicians. The role participates in performance improvement activities, consults with administration and medical staff on quality and regulatory issues, and serves as a clinical resource. Responsibilities include supervising technical support staff, assisting with clinical and education programs, maintaining and disseminating drug information, verifying technician-prepared products, ensuring IV refrigerator and hood logs are maintained, and maintaining security of pharmacy and controlled substances. The pharmacist reviews patient medication profiles to prevent therapeutic duplication, significant drug interactions, and adverse drug reactions. The role requires clinical judgment for dosing, interpreting levels, modifying doses per protocol, writing progress notes, and calculating fluid, electrolyte, and caloric needs as appropriate for adult and geriatric patients. The pharmacist generates required reports and supports pharmacy operations and staff communication regarding workload and pending issues.
