Poison Information Center Specialist
Responsible for triaging and providing poison information used in the management of emergency poison exposures from the general public and health care providers with assistance from Certified Specialists in Poison Information. Accountable for efficient, timely and accurate responses and documentation and follow-up to incoming poison information and exposure cases.
Outline of Responsibilities
Triages and manages high and low acuity poison exposure and information cases with assistance from Certified Specialists in Poison Information per IPC productivity targets. Elicits complete and accurate history from callers, formulates appropriate treatment recommendations and communicates such information at a level appropriate for the caller. Collaborates with health professionals from other institutions who call the IPC on issues related to acute and chronic poisonings. Provides exemplary customer service.
Accurately and thoroughly documents and codes all cases in a timely fashion and in accordance with IPC and America's Poison Centers (APC) NPDS guidelines.
As assigned, participates in professional and public education activities, social media content, etc.
Must assist in meeting IPC scheduling needs and fill in for unplanned absences as needed.

Qualifications
Doctorate in Pharmacy or medicine (Must be licensed in the state of Illinois within 6 months of start date); Masters level Physician Assistant; or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Pharmacy licensed in the state of Illinois with three or more years of critical care or emergency department experience. Exemplary clinical pharmacology and calculations skills required. Exemplary organizational, communication, and conflict management skills in a fast-paced environment. Maturity, tactfulness and sensitivity to confidential situations. Proficient computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office, database management programs, and the internet. Incumbent must sit for the APC Certified Specialist in Poison Information Exam during the first qualifying exam cycle, and pass the exam within 2 attempts. Performance of job responsibilities may exceed regular work hours including day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday hours, and may require last minute schedule changes or frequent schedule alterations.

Pay Range: $100,597 to $150,896 annually, actual compensation is dependent on job-related factors such as experience, education, skills and qualifications for the role.
