JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40

Work Shift: (Monday thru Friday) Can start as early as 6:30 am and work 8 hours daily.

JOB SUMMARY: 

The Billing Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Patient Financial Services (PFS) billing team to ensure timely and accurate claim submission, reimbursement, and account resolution. This position serves as a subject matter expert and resource for team members, providing guidance, training, and support while monitoring productivity, quality, and performance metrics. The Billing Team Lead works closely with management, payers, providers, and internal departments to optimize revenue cycle performance and ensure compliance with regulatory and payer requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of healthcare billing, both professional and technical.
  • Coding certification (CPC, CCS-P, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Previous leadership, mentoring, or team lead experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of physician and/or hospital billing practices.
  • Understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and managed care reimbursement methodologies.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR), billing system and clearinghouses.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with the EPIC billing system preferred.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret payer guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

Must possess good physical health.  Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time.  Lifting at least 10 pounds is required.
