Personal Care Assistant (Learning Support)

We are actively hiring Personal Care Assistants for the 2026–2027 school year!

Position Summary
The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) provides direct support to students receiving special education services in alignment with district, state, and federal guidelines. This role supports the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), assists with behavior intervention plans, collaborates with instructional staff, and helps maintain a safe, inclusive, and productive learning environment. Responsibilities include supporting IEP development, documenting student progress, participating in problem‑solving teams, and assisting with IEP meeting preparation and scheduling.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree preferred
  • Not accepted: GED or ParaPro test as a credential
  • Experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting
  • Knowledge of special education practices and willingness to learn new strategies
  • Proficiency with multimedia tools and computer technology
  • Ability to build effective, collaborative relationships with students, staff, administrators, and families
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills

Position Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs to ensure appropriate services for students
  • Provide personalized assistance based on student needs and help maximize learning opportunities
  • Support the use of digital tools and resources to promote critical thinking, collaboration, and problem‑solving
  • Assist in monitoring student growth and following district assessment and grading policies
  • Help manage student behavior across settings to maintain a positive learning environment
  • Work with teachers, families, and community partners to support student learning
  • Participate in school‑based professional learning communities to deepen understanding of curriculum and assessment
  • Communicate clearly and professionally in all written and verbal interactions
  • Other duties as assigned
