Overview




The City of Tigard's Community Development Department is seeking a Permit Technician Assistant. This is a limited duration position- assignment ends on June 30, 2026. This position will provide backup for existing staff to work through changes following a major software conversion. The successful candidate will be trained in many aspects of permit intake and issuance in a professional office setting . The successful candidate will be trained in many aspects of permit intake and issuance in a professional office setting.


The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded background in building permitting and tracking. Customer service experience in a professional office setting and software database management experience are highly desirable. Experience with records management and archiving would also be desirable.

Examples of Duties






+ Responsible for a wide variety of tasks including scanning, permit intake, permit routing and customer service via email, telephone and in-person.

+ Works with a diverse group of internal and external customers to support a dynamic permitting experience for the citizens of Tigard.

+ Provide backup so other Tigard staff will be available to work on a major software conversion for up to three years.

+ Other duties, as assigned.






Minimum Qualifications




Any combination of training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:


+ Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade AND

+ One (1) year of varied technical, clerical or paraprofessional support experience in a municipal or county building, engineering, or planning department or equivalent private sector experience.

About this job: This is a limited duration job that will end on June 30, 2026.



Schedule: The position will generally work a 4-10 hour schedule Monday-Thursday. General working hours are 7:30-6:00 p.m.
