The Public Works Department is actively seeking a Permit Assistant Senior.

This is advanced administrative support work in the review and processing of building permits in compliance with applicable City ordinances and building and zoning codes and researching, indexing, scanning, and accessing documents to and from varied archived sources. The work requires knowledge of the techniques, methods, procedures, and regulations governing the issuance of building permits which is gained through specialized training and job experience. May assign and monitor the work of others. Contacts require skills in understanding and influence behavior with persuasiveness, assertiveness, and sensitivity to other's point of view. The work is semi-routine in that tasks are covered by procedures and precedents involving a variety of situations, and requires some decision-making in choosing the appropriate method, technique, or procedure to follow. The work is patterned involving similar situations and generally requiring only the choice of the correct procedure. Work is performed in an office environment. Operates standard office equipment including personal computers. The physical demands consist mainly of sitting or standing at a workstation for extended periods of time and occasionally lifting and moving light objects weighing up to twenty (20) pounds. The work is performed under general supervision with varied work assignments and, although subject to standard practices and procedures, some latitude is permitted in setting priorities subject to superiors approval.

One (1) year of experience processing permits for building construction.
NOTE: For the purpose of this job specification, "Building Permit" means any permit issued by the construction trades activities to include building, electrical, plumbing, sign, site clearing, roofing, mobile homes, and mechanical permits.

The budgeted annual salary for this position is $47,654.44 . This is not negotiable. If selected, would you be willing to accept this position at this salary? (Civil Service positions have a 5% increase after successfully completing probation.)
