Salary Range: $300,000 – $360,000 annually (based on experience and qualifications)

About the Position
Brattleboro Memorial Hospital in beautiful Brattleboro, Vermont, is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate full-time Staff Orthopedic Surgeon to join our dedicated Orthopedics team. This role offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive musculoskeletal care, perform a wide range of surgical procedures, and make a meaningful impact on patient health in a collaborative and community-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Evaluation & Diagnosis: Conduct thorough assessments of orthopedic conditions through physical exams, medical histories, and diagnostic imaging such as X-rays, MRI, and CT scans.
  • Treatment Planning: Develop personalized treatment strategies combining surgical and non-surgical interventions tailored to each patient’s needs.
  • Surgical Procedures: Perform orthopedic surgeries including joint replacements, fracture repairs, arthroscopy, and other advanced orthopedic interventions.
  • Pre- and Post-Operative Care: Manage patient care before and after surgery, ensuring safety, optimal recovery, and patient satisfaction.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with primary care providers, physical and occupational therapists, and rehabilitation specialists to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • On-Call Coverage: Participate in rotating on-call schedules to support emergency and urgent orthopedic cases.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate and complete medical records, documenting evaluations, treatments, and surgical outcomes in accordance with hospital and legal standards.
  • Patient & Family Communication: Provide clear, compassionate communication regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and recovery plans.
  • Continuing Education: Stay current with advances in orthopedic surgery, applying evidence-based practices and participating in CME, conferences, and professional development activities.
  • Professional Standards: Adhere to ethical, professional, and regulatory standards, including patient confidentiality, informed consent, and hospital policies.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Certification: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery.
  • Licensing: Valid Vermont medical license or ability to obtain licensure.
  • Experience: Demonstrated proficiency in orthopedic surgical techniques, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective team collaboration and patient rapport
    • Detail-oriented with a focus on patient safety and high-quality care
    • Familiarity with the latest advancements in orthopedic procedures and technology
