Pediatrix and Obstetrix, in partnership with Northside Hospital—one of Atlanta’s most respected healthcare institutions—are seeking a passionate and dedicated Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) to join our expanding Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) team. Position Overview:
As a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at Northside Hospital, you will play a vital role in delivering advanced, evidence-based care to critically ill and premature newborns. You will work alongside a team of highly experienced clinicians to support the health and well-being of our most vulnerable patients in one of Georgia’s busiest and most respected NICUs, admitting approximately 1,400–1,500 neonates annually.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive, advanced neonatal care in a Level III NICU setting, ensuring the best outcomes for critically ill and premature infants.
- Manage a diverse caseload, including medically fragile newborns requiring intensive stabilization, monitoring, and treatment.
- Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team comprising neonatologists (including dual-boarded genetics specialists), pediatric intensivists, newborn nursery pediatricians, research nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Support newborn stabilization, perform procedures as permitted, and participate actively in clinical decision-making processes.
- Contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives and participate in research activities to advance neonatal care standards.
- Engage in shift work, including 24-hour shifts with flexible scheduling options, to meet the high-demand needs of the NICU.
- Mentor and support new graduates and less experienced staff, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth.
- Foster strong connections with hospital and community resources to promote continuum of care for patients and families.
Qualifications:
- Active certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) by a recognized certifying body.
- Graduation from an accredited nurse practitioner program with specialization in neonatal care.
- Previous experience in a Level III NICU is preferred but not required; new graduates with a strong commitment to neonatal care are encouraged to apply.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to thrive in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment.
- Licensure in the state of Georgia or eligibility to obtain licensure.
