Job Title: Medical Director – Correctional Health Services (Perm)
Location: Dallas, TX

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced, Board-Certified Medical Director to lead and oversee all medical operations within our Correctional Health Services program. This leadership role provides an exceptional opportunity to influence high-quality, patient-centered healthcare delivery in a complex correctional environment, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to improve health outcomes for an underserved population. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional clinical expertise, leadership acumen, and a commitment to advancing correctional medicine.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide overall clinical leadership and strategic direction for Correctional Health Services, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with Behavioral Health leadership to deliver integrated, patient-centric care.
  • Oversee clinical operations for adult and women’s health, maintaining evidence-based protocols and addressing quality improvement initiatives.
  • Adapt communication and care strategies to meet diverse patient needs, including sensory impairments, older adults, and individuals with complex health issues.
  • Foster and maintain strong professional relationships with law enforcement agencies, healthcare partners, community vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous review of departmental policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Supervise, mentor, and motivate medical staff, including physicians and advanced practice providers, fostering a culture of excellence and professionalism.
  • Serve as a supervising physician for advanced practice providers and a consultant to nursing leadership.
  • Promote medical education by providing training and mentorship to residents, students, and healthcare providers.
  • Act as liaison among jail physicians, primary care, specialty clinics, emergency rooms, and inpatient services to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Oversee quality improvement programs, performance evaluations, and workflow efficiencies to optimize operational effectiveness.
  • Support physician recruitment and retention initiatives to maintain a highly skilled medical team.
  • Stay informed of current medical developments and integrate innovative practices into service delivery.
  • Cultivate a patient-centered environment emphasizing respectful communication, transparency, and care excellence.

Qualifications:
  • Board Certification in a relevant medical specialty (e.g., Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or other applicable fields).
  • Extensive experience in clinical leadership, preferably within correctional or underserved healthcare settings.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement policies, manage teams, and oversee complex operations.
  • Strong understanding of correctional health regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Capacity to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
