The Director of Quality, Patient Experience and Patient Safetyfunctions within the Health System s mission, vision, values, strategic priorities, and regulatory requirements, the Director of Quality, Patient Experience, and Patient Safety provides system-level leadership for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality, safety, patient experience, and infection prevention programs across Lima Memorial Health System (LMHS).This role is accountable for ensuring organizational compliance with all applicable regulatory, accreditation, and reporting standards, including but not limited to The Joint Commission, CMS, and state and federal requirements. The Director serves as the organizational lead for quality oversight, performance improvement, patient safety, infection prevention, and high reliability principles, ensuring these disciplines are fully integrated into daily operations and clinical practice. The Director develops, executes, and monitors an operational quality and safety plan aligned with the health system s strategic plan. In partnership with executive leadership, physicians, clinical leaders, and support departments, this role champions a culture of transparency, accountability, continuous learning, and just culture. The Director leads system-wide efforts to advance high reliability organizing, reduce variation, improve outcomes, elevate the patient and family experience, and sustain measurable improvements in quality and safety performance.

Skills of a Director of Quality, Patient Experience and Patient Safety will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Provides strategic leadership for quality and patient experience by establishing a clear vision that aligns regulatory expectations, organizational priorities, and patient-centered care principles. Translates strategic objectives into actionable goals, performance metrics, and improvement initiatives. Ensures alignment between departmental work and health system wide strategic priorities.
  • Proactively identifies quality performance gaps, regulatory risks, and patient experience opportunities. Develops policies, standards, and workflows that support consistent, compliant, and high-quality care delivery. Leads initiatives with a focus on sustainability, standardization, and measurable outcomes.
  • Builds commitment across multidisciplinary teams to advance quality and patient experience goals. Leads change initiatives that require collaboration across clinical and operational departments, addressing resistance constructively and reinforcing accountability for results.
  • Establishes clear expectations for quality performance, regulatory compliance, and patient experience outcomes. Monitors performance trends, evaluates effectiveness of improvement initiatives, and holds individuals and teams accountable for meeting established goals.
  • Champions patient- and family-centered care by integrating patient experience data, feedback, and best practices into organizational decision-making. Ensures quality initiatives directly support respectful communication, reliability, and consistency in the patient experience.
