The Engineering team sits within the O&M department under the technical services group.Our ideal candidate is an experienced Performance Engineer interested in a career in renewable energy. The individual will sit within our Engineering team, working to improve our existing data management infrastructure and initiatives within O&M. This team member will be a vital part of the digital transformation work being done in the fastest‑growing segment of the power sector.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Monitor the long‑term performance and fleet health of one of the leading utility‑scale solar PV fleets in the countryDevelop new features and performance optimizations in our sensor‑processing Python codebaseDevelop data dashboards in Sigma that provide performance reports of our solar fleet for internal and external stakeholdersCreate performant views in Snowflake that surface sensor data and other fleet health metrics to BI dashboardsDesign and deploy dynamically scalable, available, fault‑tolerant, and reliable data processing pipelinesCollaborate with individuals on the DevOps, Asset Management, Battery Optimization, and Operations Engineering teamsDevelop new and debug existing Flask applications that are used within the companyConduct in‑depth statistical analysis to evaluate ROI of various fleet health initiativesAnalyzing production and weather data, working with our O&M providers to provide operational recommendations to improve underperforming sitesRequired Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:Bachelor's in Engineering, Data Science, or Computer Science5+ years of experience developing software in PythonExperience using Pandas (or Polars) for data analysisExperience working with databases (Postgres, MySQL), data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift) or DatabricksExperience writing SQL queries and creating performance enhancements to existing viewsExperience creating and designing ETL/ELT processes and workflows that organize incoming bulk data into a sematic/metrics layer. Experience or training in data management, data engineering, and/or exchange‑transfer‑load (ETL) softwareExperience or training in data visualization software such as Sigma or Power BI Familiar with statistical analysis techniques and tools for large datasetsPreferred Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:Familiarity with aspects of electrical maintenance, including DC systems, AC medium voltage systems, protection equipment, network communications and monitoringFamiliarity with dbt (data build tool)Experience with the design and operation of photovoltaic systemsExperience with system modeling utilizing PVlib, PVsyst, SAM, or other modeling softwareExperience with data acquisition systemsProficiency with MS Office Suite with an in‑depth focus of ExcelRequirements/Work Environment:This role will be based out of our Durham, NC office following a hybrid work schedule of 2 remote days and 3 days in office.
