Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Per Diem Ultrasound Technologist - Outpatient Radiology - Garden City. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing diagnostic examinations using sonography. The Ultrasound Technologist may be responsible depending on work location for daily operations of the sonographic laboratory, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, reports of equipment failures, and quality assessment (QA).

Job Responsibilities

• Operates Ultrasound equipment to take diagnostic images of specific body areas/parts as ordered. • Produces diagnostic images for interpretation by physician. • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of Ultrasound equipment. • Prepares patient using proper positioning and/or immobilizing patients and giving them proper instructions regarding procedure. • Quality review of the technologists images fall within guidelines of departmental SOP. • Technologist is observed to give clear and concise instruction to the patient before beginning an exam. • Accurately utilizes the PACS system to make images available to the physician for interpretation. • Technologist creates a minimum number of exceptions. • Accurately utilizes systems. • Enters proper exam coding. • Arrives and completes exams in a timely fashion. • Assists in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies. • Reports any equipment problems or malfunctions to the supervisor in a timely fashion. • Instructs and supervises ultrasound students in a clinical practicum. • Works with the ultrasound student to perform exams as well as performing individual image evaluation.

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify you must have a Technical Diploma Graduate of an accredited two-year Ultrasound Program required. Registered Diagnostic Sonographer OR Registered Vascular Technologist required. Ability to effectively operate sonographic equipment required. Ability to evaluate sonograms in order to acquire appropriate diagnostic information required. Ability to follow established departmental procedures required. Ability to work efficiently and cope with emergency situations required. Emotional and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position required. Strength sufficient to: lift some patients, move heavy equipment on wheels (up to approx. 500 lbs), and to move patients in wheelchairs and stretchers required. Ability to maintain prolonged arm positions necessary for scanning required.

Preferred Qualifications

Associates degree In a related field. 3 - 5 Years Minimum 3 years of Ultrasound experience. 3 - 5 Years OB/GYN, small parts and/or vascular experience.

Salary Transparency Notice

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $60.00 - $60.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
