The Peer Recovery Support Specialist provides peer recovery services to individuals receiving care and assists with screening consumers to identify referral needs, linking them to appropriate services and coordinating transportation when necessary. This role helps consumers recognize early warning signs of relapse and develop strategies to maintain recovery. The specialist provides ongoing follow-up and support to promote recovery, resiliency, and overall well-being while advocating for peer recovery services within programs and throughout the community to reduce stigma. Additionally, the position collaborates with external partners to identify individuals who may benefit from treatment or support services and assists in the treatment process by providing paraprofessional support, including helping consumers develop coping, self-help, and communication skills. A valid state-issued driver's license and current Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) Certification through the West Virginia Certification Board for Addiction & Prevention Professionals are required for this role.
