Summary
Under general supervision, in a daytime non-residential facility the PS Instructor observes and monitors client's behavior and charts observations and incidents. PS Instructor also charts progress toward clients' identified goals in their treatment plan. Provides training of basic personal and social skills in group settings at the counseling center and in the community. May assist with ensuring or encouraging client group activity and providing transportation to group outings.
Responsibilities
Provides support to clients and Certified Peer Support Specialist to assist clients with developing coping skills and psychoeducation by using validation, acknowledgement, respect, structure, and encouragement.
Competencies
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university OR high school diploma/GED AND two years of experience in social services relation position OR one year of experience providing social or direct care services to groups of special needs individuals in a human service setting. Note: Some positions require a valid driver's license.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and carry up to 25/50 lbs.
Physical Demands may include: sitting, standing and/or walking, pushing/pulling, handling, reaching, bending, twisting, crawling, kneeling, squatting, climbing (ladders or stairs), overhead reaching.
Minimum qualifications for this position will be determined by the teaching discipline and compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned.
