Overview:

Children’s Mercy Kansas City (CMKC) - Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases is seeking a BC/BE Pediatric Infectious Diseases Specialist at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor.  The candidate should have strong clinical skills. Clinical responsibilities of the position will include inpatient consultations at the Main and University of Kansas campuses and outpatient visits in the Infectious Diseases Clinic. An interest in infection prevention control is preferred. Additional academic endeavors are encouraged including participation in bench or clinical research or quality improvement activities.

 

The Division staff currently consists of 14 ID faculty, 2 postdoctoral fellows in its accredited Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellowship training program: 4 ID nurse practitioners, 2 PharmD, and a PhD. Seven research coordinators support the ID clinical research efforts.  The Division has a strong collaborative relationship with the CMKC Clinical Microbiology Laboratory and its Director, the Missouri American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and grant funding from the National Institute of Health (NIH) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). We also have ongoing funding from extramural foundations and Biopharma. 

 

Infectious diseases faculty, fellows, and APRNs care for approximately 1700 outpatients annually including patients at the International Adoption, Special Immunology, Allergy de-labeling, and Travel Medicine Clinics. Over 1500 new inpatient consults are seen annually including ~300 on the Immune Compromised Host service.
