Akron Childrens Hospital is seeking a BC/BE pediatric hematologist/oncologist who will also serve as a clinical faculty member at the assistant/associate professor level. The ideal candidate for this position has a clinical focus within neuro-oncology and is interested in quality improvement/clinical research/medical education. Akron Childrens Hospital is a teaching hospital with an AGMCE-accredited Hematology/Oncology fellowship training program and a medical school affiliation with Northeast Ohio Medical University.

Programs at the Akron Childrens Hospital Showers Family Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders include hematology, oncology, stem cell and marrow transplantation, a state-funded sickle cell program and regional hemostasis and thrombosis center. Hematology/oncology care is provided at our hospital in Akron, our Beeghly campus in Boardman, Ohio, and a monthly outreach clinic in the Amish Community. The Hematology/Oncology team is currently comprised of 10 faculty members and is growing along with seventeen advanced practice providers and an extensive team of nursing professionals and support staff.

Each year the center cares for approximately 100 new oncology patients, 15 stem cell/marrow transplant patients, 160 sickle cell patients and 540 bleeding disorder patients. The staff also provides care through nearly 13,000 patient encounters annually. Akron Childrens Hospital is a member of the Childrens Oncology Group, is a member of the Childrens Brain Tumor Network, houses a pediatric stem cell transplantation center and is approved by the National Marrow Donor Program.
