Job Summary
The PCBA Test Engineer owns end-to-end manufacturing test readiness for complex hardware platforms, ensuring scalable, cost-effective, and high-quality PCBA test solutions from early design through high-volume production.
This role leads execution across ICT, Boundary Scan (BST), and production test, driving DFT enforcement, fixture development, test coverage, and production readiness. The engineer partners closely with hardware design teams, contract manufacturers (CMs), and test vendors to deliver robust test infrastructure aligned to aggressive program schedules and yield targets.
Job Responsibilities
Manufacturing Test Ownership
- Own development and deployment of ICT and BST test solutions for pilot and production
- Define and integrate device programming requirements into manufacturing test
- Ensure complete PCBA-level test coverage, power-up validation, and defect screening
DFT & Design Engagement
- Drive DFT compliance from schematic through layout, ensuring testable designs
- Review test coverage (testprep) and design data to close testability gaps early
- Partner with design teams to resolve probe access, coverage, and programming constraints
Fixture & Vendor Management
- Lead ICT/BST fixture development, including quotes, scheduling, and build execution
- Manage fixture vendors and test houses to ensure on-time delivery to pilot and production
- Provide design data and technical support for fixture bring-up and debug
Production Readiness & Execution
- Ensure test readiness for pilot and manufacturing ramp, aligned to program milestones
- Drive cross-functional execution with CMs, vendors, and internal engineering teams
- Support test station setup, validation, and production deployment
Yield & Continuous Improvement
- Drive FPY improvement, defect reduction, and test optimization using production data
- Lead debug, failure analysis, and root cause resolution across manufacturing
- Optimize test time, coverage, and overall manufacturing efficiency
Lifecycle Support
- Own post-release test support, fixture improvements, and issue resolution
- Ensure long-term test stability, scalability, and cost optimization
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 10-12+ years relevant experience
- Strong foundation in hardware systems and PCB design principles
- Proven experience with ICT, BST, and manufacturing test development
- Experience driving DFT compliance and test coverage in PCBA designs
- Hands-on experience with fixture development and vendor coordination
- Strong debug, failure analysis, and problem-solving skills in manufacturing environments
- Experience working with contract manufacturers and external partners
- Ability to lead cross-functional execution with minimal direction
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep expertise in ICT fixture development and test coverage optimization
- Strong knowledge of boundary scan (JTAG) and scan-based testing
- Experience with test coverage analysis and DFT validation workflows
- Familiarity with fixture vendor processes and manufacturing test tools
- Experience integrating programming flows into ICT environments
- Understanding of high-speed design constraints and testability tradeoffs
- Experience supporting pilot builds, ramp, and manufacturing readiness milestones
- Exposure to yield improvement and test optimization initiatives
- Experience contributing to DFT standards or design guidelines
Core Competencies
- Manufacturing Test Ownership - Delivers test readiness aligned to program milestones
- DFT Expertise - Ensures scalable, testable hardware designs
- Cross-Functional Leadership - Aligns design, manufacturing, and vendors
- Technical Problem Solving - Drives root cause and resolution in production
- Execution Excellence - Delivers under aggressive schedules with high quality
- Data-Driven Improvement - Improves yield and efficiency through analytics
