The Opportunity

Apex Service Midwest continues to grow through organic expansion and acquisitions. We are expanding our team to support two of our partner brands in Michigan: Canfield and The Meridian Company.

We are adding a Payroll Specialist to support payroll processing for these Michigan-based brands, helping ensure accurate, efficient, and timely payroll execution. This is a hybrid role offering competitive pay and the opportunity to contribute in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly payroll utilizing ServiceTitan and ADP for multiple locations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare payroll sheets, reconcile data, and process manual checks as needed.
  • Drive accurate and efficient payroll processes that minimize errors and adjustments.
  • Support payroll-related reporting (401(k), journal entries, etc.).
  • Collaborate with HR and accounting teams on special projects and integrations.
  • Assist with onboarding and integrating new companies into payroll processes and ADP templates.
  • Provide excellent customer service when addressing payroll-related questions from internal teams.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Support accounting with clerical tasks when not engaged in payroll processing.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience in payroll processing, accounting, or a similar function.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, XLOOKUPs, formulas/functions required).
  • Experience with ServiceTitan and ADP preferred; accounting experience a plus.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; professional and customer-service oriented.
  • Curious, adaptable, and enthusiastic with a willingness to learn new systems and processes.
