Our client, a stable and growing manufacturer in the Belding, Michigan area, is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to take ownership of payroll operations in a fast-paced production environment. This is a highly visible role supporting both hourly and salaried payroll operations while partnering closely with HR and leadership teams to ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.

This opportunity is ideal for a payroll professional who thrives in a manufacturing setting, enjoys working independently, and can confidently manage payroll timelines in a high-volume environment. The right candidate will bring strong attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and the ability to collaborate across departments to support employees and maintain smooth payroll operations.


Responsibilities

  • Own and process full-cycle payroll operations.
  • Manage payroll for both hourly and salaried employee groups.
  • Ensure accurate payroll calculations including overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, garnishments, deductions, and benefit withholdings.
  • Review payroll data for accuracy, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Partner with HR and leadership teams regarding employee payroll changes, status updates, and reporting needs.
  • Assist with payroll audits, reporting, reconciliations, and year-end processing activities.
  • Respond to employee payroll-related questions with professionalism and urgency.
  • Help improve payroll processes, workflows, and system efficiencies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy when handling sensitive employee information.
  • Support timekeeping and attendance tracking processes tied to payroll operations.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of payroll experience required.
  • Manufacturing payroll experience required 
  • Experience in processing payroll for larger employee populations.
  • Strong understanding of hourly payroll, salaried payroll, overtime calculations, and payroll compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Paycor or Paylocity experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with payroll audits, reporting, and compliance documentation.

Schedule & Reporting Structure

  • Standard Monday-Friday schedule, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
  • Reports directly to payroll/HR leadership.
  • On-site role based in the Belding, Michigan area.
