We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee multi-state payroll operations and payroll tax compliance for a growing client portfolio. This is a highly autonomous role for a payroll professional who excels in payroll administration, compliance, process improvement, and payroll technology.

Job Details

Responsibilities:
  • Manage full-cycle, multi-state payroll processing for multiple employers and pay schedules.
  • Oversee payroll tax compliance, registrations, filings, remittances, and reporting across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
  • Administer payroll-related deductions, benefits, garnishments, and retirement plans.
  • Maintain payroll systems, employee records, and tax configurations while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Serve as the primary contact for payroll tax agencies, audits, notices, and employee payroll inquiries.
  • Partner with accounting and finance teams on reconciliations, reporting, audits, and payroll-related financial activities.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of payroll experience with responsibility for payroll tax compliance.
  • Knowledge of U.S. multi-state payroll processing, payroll taxes, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience managing payroll tax registrations, filings, agency correspondence, and audits.
  • Proficiency with payroll platforms such as ADP, iSolved, Rippling, Gusto, Heartland, or similar systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is a plus.
  • CPP certification is a plus.
