Duties and Responsibilities:

• Uses safe work procedures that comply with safety policies and regulations. • Federal, state, local, and company policies. • Performs daily equipment walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained. • Safely and properly performs maintenance on paving machine. • Safely and properly operates adjusting mechanism of paving machine. • Bolts extensions to screed to adjust width as needed. • Heats screed at the beginning of shift. • Observes distribution of paving material along screed and controls direction of screed. • Cleans screed at the end of shift. • Communicates effectively, verbal, listening, written, and works with difficult people under high stress situations. • Self-motivated team-player with good interpersonal skills, ability to maintain positive customer relations, and act courteous and respectful of others. • Troubleshoots and problem solves situations, problems, material quality, equipment operation, repair, etc. • Monitors and discusses production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors. • Ensures OSHA, EPA, DNR safety and environmental regulation compliance.

Job Requirements:

The job requires steady to intermittent and repetitive physical activity, including standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, walking on uneven ground, lifting, carrying, pushing, shoveling, and raking.

Minimum Qualifications:

• One year or more experience operating screed equipment. • Has knowledge of the aspects of paving operations. • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred. • Valid drivers license. • Must be able to work day shifts and night shifts. Shifts may vary according to project demands. • Must be able to work in all weather conditions. • Must be willing to travel if job requires. • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
